Dental Care

Clean teeth are an important part of keeping your pet healthy. Here at Grace Veterinary Center we have dental radiographs very similar to human dentists. These help to highlight disease processes happening below the gums. Radiographs improve identification of teeth that need to be removed. We also scale and polish every tooth to remove any plaque/calculus. The biggest difference between human dentistry and animal, is that the pet patients need general anesthesia in order for us to perform out duties.

General Anesthesia

We use a tube to maintain an airway, deliver oxygen and anesthetic gas. This also helps prevent any debris from the dental getting into the airway.

Scaling

We use an ultrasonic scaler to help clean off the plaque/calculus that has built up on the teeth and below the gumline.

Dental Radiographs

Every tooth gets an x-ray taken to make sure its health and does not need removal.

Polishing

Polishing is an important part of the dental to help smooth out the tooth surface making them shine and clean.
